Turkey has finished military operations in Iraq
Turkish armies have finished ground military operations in Iraq. Local mass-media resources have informed on it today.
The Turkish army has begun ground operation against Kurdish separatists in the north of Iraq on the night of February, 22nd. Under messages of mass-media, nearby 10 thousand military men of Turkish army (at aircraft assistance) have crossed the Iraq border. Turkey has assured the Iraq authorities, that operation will be limited by struggle against insurgents from the Kurdish Workers’ Party, which was recognized terrorist grouping by the USA and the EU countries.
In January 2008 the prime minister of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan has declared, that Turkish authorities will struggle with insurgents of the Kurdish Workers’ Party. As he said, struggle against Kurds is a part of world opposition to terrorism.
Prime-minister also marked, that Turkey is not interested in capture of northern territories of Iraq for struggle against Kurds, having emphasized, that Ankara is the firm supporter of preservation of territorial integrity of Iraq.
Kurdish Workers’ Party conducts the armed struggle for creation of the independent Kurdish state in a southeast of Turkey since 1984.
