Forty Tamil Tiger rebels were killed in the north of Sri Lanka

As it has become known, thirty-five Tamil Tiger rebels and six government troops were killed in fights with the governmental army of Sri Lanka in the north of the country.
The fierce operations occurred in district Mannar in Jaffna peninsula, where Sri Lanka soldiers have started operation on approaching to the strengthened of Tamil defense line.
According to military representatives, formations of “tigers” have made an attempt to beat off the territory, occupied by armies, but attacks have been beaten off by all of them. Losses among military men have made six person killed and twenty wounded.
Within last seven days 64 Tamil Tiger rebels have been liquidated. The purpose of operations relies in restoration of their control over areas, at which Tamil Tigers have proclaimed creation the independent state.
When these formations have been superseded from east regions of Sri Lanka, they managed to remain the only jumping-off place of separatists on they island.
Active operations are conducted, despite of the agreement of the contradictory parties. Since 2006 5 thousand people have been killed in Sri Lanka conflicts. The general number of victims of civil war has exceeded 70 thousand people.
