Gates has told that it is erroneous understanding that Ministry of Defenses can continue to finance military operations for the uncertain period by accounting manipulations. As he said, the Ministry can manage only 3,7 billion dollars that pays expenses of militarians for one week.
Earlier the White House has requested 196 billion dollars for continuation of wars in Iraq and Afghanistan in 2007-2008 financial year, which has started on October, 1st, 2007. However, the democratic opposition in the House of Representatives has voted for allocation of only 50 billion dollars with a condition of the beginning of withdrawal of armies till December 2008.
President Georges Bush has declared that he will put a veto for this bill. In reply to this statements, democrats have let know, that in this case the congress will return to discussion of a question on additional financing operations only in the end of the year, and till this moment the Pentagon should spend for war 471 billion dollars.
