The government of Turkey has approved intrusion of military forces on the territory of northern Iraq for struggle against Kurdish insurgents. Such application has been made by    Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Friday.
Despite of USA’s opinion, which opposes full-scale operation, the government of Turkey has made a decision to give armies power for the beginning struggle against insurgents of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), making attacks to Turkish territory from a strong point in the north of Iraq. While, there is no information on time of the beginning of operation.
Earlier the Turkish government declared that it is ready to refuse from military operation in Northern Kurdistan in case if this problem will be solved by Iraq government. At the same time Baghdad’s promises to cope with Kurds go counter with the impossibility recognized before to supervise PKK’s insurgents, whose bases are basically located in mountains.
Let’s remind, that after the whole series of Kurdish separatists’ attacks on Turkish soldiers in frontier areas the parliament of Turkey has accepted the decision on carrying out of special operations in northern Iraq. Parts of Turkish army have been strapped to border; however, operation has not been started.
Probably, Ankara has decided not to hasten with intrusion into Iraq after the incident on October, 21st, when 13 soldiers have been killed, 11 more person have received wounds in result of Kurds’ attack. Collision has shown to Turkish militaries the scale of possible losses in case of intrusion into Kurdish areas of northern Iraq.
PKK conducts the armed struggle for creation of the independent Kurdish state in a southeast of Turkey since 1984.  More than 37 thousand people have been killed in result of various collisions in the region.

The president of Venezuela Hugo Chavez “freezes” attitudes with Colombia in reply to the decision of Colombian president Uribe to refuse Chavez’s intermediary in negotiations with marxist insurgent grouping “The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia” (FARC).
According to Hugo Chavez’s words he will freeze attitudes with Colombia because he doesn’t trust Colombian government any more. According to Venezuelian President, actions of Colombian colleagues can be compared with “spittle in the face”, and Colombia “deserves the best president”.
The leader of Venezuela has accused Uribe of “unscrupulous lie” and has declared that the Colombian authorities have not estimated his efforts in negotiating process with insurgents so, they “do not want peace in the country”.
Hugo Chavez has not explained, in what “freezing” of attitudes with Colombia can result, but he has let know, that it threatens with deterioration of trading communications of Venezuela with its second-largest trading partner. Nevertheless this conflict could have serious economic consequences for both countries. It can be easily explained as two countries are the major commercial partners (with $4.1 billion in 2006).
