7 explosions in the south of Thailand
In the south of Thailand 7 explosions have wounded, at least, nine people. Explosives were hidden in garbage tanks. Acts of terrorism have been carried out in two shops, two hotels, restaurant, a drugstore and other establishments. In southern region of Thailand cases of realization of the acts of terrorism, carried out by Muslim separatists recently, are quite frequent. Since January 2007 than 2,1 thousand people have become the victims of insurgents.
The Moslems, making almost 4 % of the population of Thailand, live mainly in the south of the country in frontier areas with Malaysia. In this region the extremist groupings, leading armed struggle for creation of the independent Islamic state, are actively operating.
