The president of the USA Georges Bush has signed the law on allocation of additional means for conducting military campaigns in Iraq and Afghanistan. The official representative of the White House Tony Fratto has noted, that from the moment of George Bush’s reference to the Congress with the request for additional financing of the American armies before signing the law 109 days have already passed.
It is worth of mentioning that on the eve the Senate of the US Congress has approved the bill, offered by the House of Representatives of the Congress on allocation of almost 100 billion dollars on military campaigns in the countries mentioned above.
The initial variant of the bill on financing of military actions in Iraq and Afghanistan provided the withdrawal of armies from Iraq till March, 31st 2008. The document has been approved by the American Senate on April, 26th, 2007. According to the bill, it was supposed, that the withdrawal should start not later than on October, 1st, 2007 and to come to the end within 6 months.
However on May, 2nd, the president of the USA Georges Bush has put a veto for this bill. As a result the Congress had to exclude terms of final withdrawal of the American military contingent from the text of the document.
The final variant of the law assumes allocation on operation in Iraq and Afghanistan in current financial year, which will come to the end on September, 30th, 2007, and the sum of 95 billion dollars is planned. at the same time the analytics mark, that Bush’s signature on the document does not mean the termination of discussion concerning White House’s policy in Iraq.
