The great “SIX” discusses toughening sanctions against Iran
France’s Foreign Minister Phillip Dust-Blazi has declared that some positions of the previous resolution demanded from Teheran to suspend enrichment of uranium will be strengthened, and new restrictive measures are also to be added in the new United Nations Security Council resolution across Iran. Phillip Dust-Blazi has noted, that this theme was discussed on the eve during telephone conference Foreign Affairs Ministers of the “six” (the USA, China, Russia, France, the Great Britain, and Germany).
The Minister said that the parties have discussed the possible maintenance of the following resolution. As he said, the representatives of the “six” consider, that the new resolution “should correspond to spirit of the resolution 1737 and give greater force to it”. Not having specified, what measures have been discussed during the telephone conference, the minister has told that it can be reached by strengthening of some positions of the resolution 1737, and also acceptance of additional measures.
Phillip Dust-Blazi has informed, that during telephone conference of political directors the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of six countries, they have agreed that according to positions of the resolution 1737, establishing the sanctions against Iran, it is necessary to move to the new resolution on the basis of clause 41 of the UN Charter, which allows UN Security Council to accept all necessary for observance of the resolutions measures, except for militaries. The new teleconference of representatives of the countries of “six” will pass on weekend, and then the discussions about the maintenance of the following resolution will be continued in New York.
