Insurgents in Nigeria have damaged oil pipeline and have killed 11 militarians in firing, which has followed diversion. Under the insurgents’ application, incident has occurred today in the morning on oil pipeline belonging British-Holland oil company Royal Dutch Shell PLC. Official sources have not confirmed given information.
In territory of Nigeria the various extremist groupings, fighting for redistribution of oil incomes recovery, operate.
Extremists on a regular basis attack oil objects and abduct employees of the oil companies, including foreigners. Actions of insurgents for last two years have led to significant reduction of oil recovery in Nigeria, thousand foreign workers have been compelled to leave the country, two oil refining factories have been closed, and also the system of electro supply of region has been broken.
In the middle of 2007 regular attacks of insurgents have led to that volumes of export of Nigerian oil have reduced on 25 %.
Let’s note that the new attack of Nigerian insurgents can promote a rise in prices for oil. For last five years the world prices for oil have grown more than twice, and really supersonic turns have typed rates of growth of quotations in current year.
