Pentagon has called Turkey to leave Iraq as soon as possible
US Defense Secretary Robert Gates has called Turkey to disengage armies from northern Iraq within the next few days. The chapter of the American Ministry of Defense considers very important to carry out military operation of Turkey as soon as possible.
Minister has emphasized necessity to remember the sovereignty of Iraq and has urgently recommended Ankara to disengage in the near future Turkish armies from the north of this country.
Before this US Defense Secretary called Turkey to solve a problem of Kurds by political and economic methods, emphasizing, that counterterrorist operation in this respect not the most effective tool.
The USA in their appeals to the world in the north of Iraq is guided especially by a pragmatism and calculation. Washington is afraid, that operations in region will be reflected in deliveries of oil pipeline. Other reason can rely in fears that with activity of Kurds in the north of the country can activate the Islamic terrorist groupings.
Baghdad acts sharply against intrusion of Turkey into Northern Kurdistan. In particular, on February, 24th Iraq has called Turkey to disengage the armies from the Iraq territories “as soon as possible” and to sit down for a negotiating table, having declared, that unilateral carrying out of military operation by Turkey in the north of Iraq bears threat of stability in region and breaks the sovereignty of Iraq. At the same time Baghdad recognizes, that it ia unable to take a situation in this region under control.
