US soldiers: war in Iraq has turned into the nightmare
Retired Lieutenant General Ricardo Sanchez criticizes operation of the USA in Iraq. The former commander quotes that it is obvious that America experiences a nightmare, the end to which it is not visible.
In opinion of the former commander, the reason of such position relies in political miscalculations after Saddam Hussein’s overthrow and Americans’ proceeding mistakes.
Ricardo Sanchez has named last strategic decisions of the Pentagon across Iraq, including, sending additional 30 thousand military men, as desperate attempt to correct for the erroneous policy of many years.
Thus he has refrained from charges to address of any concrete politician or department, having noted, that the USA do not have other way out but to continue their military presence there.
Let’s remind that Sanchez has left a post ordering armed forces of the USA in Iraq in July 2004. Since then he is engaged in consultation of command representatives in Iraq. According to some information, his resignation has been connected with scandal around of mockeries above captives. Nevertheless, according to the Pentagon’ official version, his leaving has no relation to this business. According to conclusions of the special commission, Sanchez has been recognized innocent in abusing, however bears the responsibility for them.
Heavy position in the country admits also the Iraq party. As the prime minister of Iraq has declared recently, achievement of stability in the country is a long process, which in general can never come to the end if to not stop an illegal stream of the weapon and money, and also distribution of terrorism and extremism to the country. He has also added that continuation of violence over the country will have “catastrophic consequences” for the world.
